Tahiti, the Pacific Ocean archipelago known for its panoramas of rare beauty, is overflowing with beaches. True jewels of this Polynesian land, they delight the senses with their unique sands and the scenery that surrounds them. Here is a non-exhaustive list of Tahiti's most beautiful beaches.

Punaauia beach

You'll love Punaauia beach, located near Nu'uroa, south of Papeete, at PK 18. Its white sand embraces turquoise water. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind in the heart of a lush green landscape. Enjoy outdoor showers and public parking. Enjoy a moment of relaxation on this popular beach. Here, you can admire the sunset and enjoy a breathtaking view of Moorea. Some go snorkelling, others surf. Or take a moment to relax and unwind on the beach. 

Pointe des pêcheurs beach

As its name suggests, this beach is a favorite spot for local fishermen. However, you can also enjoy an idyllic swim in a lagoon nestled between valleys, coconut palms and stilts. The almost implausible setting of the Pointe des Pêcheurs beach is a complete change of scenery. It's close to the Musée de Tahiti et des îles, at PK 15, between Mont 'Orohena and Paea. The beach is strewn with stones and pebbles. So don't forget to bring a pair of water shoes to enjoy a unique moment on the Pointe des Pecheurs beach. A beach that's a real invitation to relax and unwind, although surfing is also practiced here.

Vaiava beach

Vaiava beach is also pleasant and convenient. There's a parking area and a small park. In the shade, you can enjoy a drink at the refreshment bar set up in the heart of this lush natural park. Vaiava beach is made up of golden sand, adorned with a few palm trees, and is an unbeatable vantage point. The splendid island of Moorea can be seen in the distance, its volcanic peaks sometimes mingling with opaline-white clouds. To get to Vaiava beach, head south-west from Papeete, at PK 18 to Puna'aiua.

Toaroto beach

Toaroto beach is located at PK 15.5, about 15 kilometers from the capital. An avenue of coconut palms leads you to this white-sand beach. The water is somewhat muddy, but you'll be delighted by the unbeatable view of the volcanic land on the horizon. Toaroto beach is a small haven of peace, far from the hustle and bustle of Papeete although geographically close. Enjoy a siesta under one of the trees that line the beach. Or sunbathe on this family beach with its irrefutable attractions. Parking and sanitary facilities are also available. Toaroto beach is comfort combined with serenity.

Rohotu beach

The strong points of Rohotu beach are, firstly, the easy access to the free parking lot, which facilitates arrival, and secondly, the presence of a pretty park. This charming park features sanitary facilities and showers built into a shady area. Tables are also available for visitors. Picnics by the lagoon on this beach at PK 23.5 in Paea. The cleanliness of its spaces and the surrounding landscape amply justify its place in the top list of Tahiti's most beautiful beaches.

Taharuu beach

Taharuu beach, meanwhile, holds a precious treasure: a superb black sand beach. An enchanting change of scenery! Its fine sand and lagoon-blue waters are a visual delight. Admire this spectacle of nature, with a view of Tahiti's emerald mountains in the background. However, swimming is limited due to the presence of high waves. Surfers, on the other hand, will be delighted to explore the waves of Taharuu beach. Located at PK 40 Papara, it's an ideal spot for an aperitif or to watch the sunset. What's more, it boasts a number of facilities, including shaded tables, a refreshment bar, showers and free parking. The beach resembles Pointe Vénus, another black-sand beach - the island's black gold.
