When is the best time to visit Los Angeles?

Located in Southern California, Los Angeles enjoys a Mediterranean climate, which can also be described as subtropical. In other words, it's beautiful all year round! In Los Angeles, summers are hot and dry, while winters are mild with relatively few storms. Throughout the year, temperatures average between 19 and 25°C (66-77°F). However, the sea temperatures remain quite cool, rarely exceeding 22°C (72°F) even in the height of summer. These ideal climatic conditions make the city particularly attractive to visitors from around the world, no matter the time of year. July and August are the hottest months, with temperatures reaching up to 30 to 40°C (86-104°F). The Santa Ana winds, blowing from the desert, can occur a few days a year, usually in September or October, bringing dust and heat waves, which are often responsible for starting fires.

Beyond the weather, you might also want to be in Los Angeles during certain festive events organized by the city. Among the most important events in L.A., the Tournament of Rose Parade is a grand parade celebrating the New Year on Colorado Boulevard on January 1st. In February, there are the African American History Month (shows, conferences, and exhibitions commemorating the history of African Americans) and the Chinese New Year. To visit Los Angeles during the Oscars ceremony, you'll need to go there in March. Fiesta Broadway takes place in April-May with shows, concerts, and activities related to Latin American culture. From June to November, several festivals are held in Los Angeles such as the Playboy Jazz Festival in June, the Hard Summer Festival in August, and the Los Angeles International Film Festival in November.
